For part of the season, yes. Roughly early December to mid February you get 24 hour sun on the Peninsula. Outside that window the sun does set, and you get proper sunrises and sunsets. Photographers generally prefer the shoulders for exactly that reason, since permanent flat daylight is harder to shoot than golden light at either end of the day.
The 24 hour window is astronomical, so unlike almost everything else on a polar trip it's stable and predictable.
Practically it's useful. Landings can run late, whale sightings at 10pm still have light on them, and the expedition team has more room to move the day around. It also wrecks your sleep if you're sensitive to it, so bring an eye mask.
