If you’re planning a trip to Antarctica, you’ll need to start planning your time in Ushuaia as well, as this is where most ships will depart from on their way to Antarctica. Booking direct is usually the best rate you will find, and it puts you in contact with the hotel itself. That matters in Ushuaia, where you may want an early check in after a long flight, or somewhere to leave a bag while you are at sea.

ATG Top Three Recommendations
The list below contains our top three hotel recommendations that we have personal experience staying in on multiple occasions. We have no affiliation with these hotels or any of the hotels on this list.
Hotel Albatros
ATG Rating: 4.5/5 – Price: $$
This hotel has no connection to Albatros Expeditions, which operates in Antarctica and the Arctic. We like this hotel because of its convenient location; which is directly in front of the port and steps to the Av. San Martin. This is the main street that runs through the heart of the Ushuaia city center. There are plenty of shops, bars, and restaurants just a short walk from the front door. The hotel is clean, modern, and cozy. We also find it to be extremely affordable given the quality. Our only complaint is that it can be a little noisy due to its close proximity to the city center and main avenue.
Hotel Alto Andino
ATG Rating: 4.5/5 – Price: $$
Hotel Alto Andino is another one of our favorite hotels in Ushuaia. It’s extremely affordable, always clean, very cozy and the staff is amazing. They offer a classic Argentina breakfast on their top floor which gives you the best views of the Ushuaia mountain range. The staff has always been helpful with calling cabs, recommending places to eat, and things to do around Ushuaia. We’ve stayed here over a dozen times and have not had any complaints. It’s 3-4 blocks walking to the city center, but it’s much quieter than Hotel Albatros. It is an uphill walk, so if you’re mobility-challenged, Albatros may be a better option.
Arakur Resort and Spa – Link to hotel
ATG RATING: 5/5 – Price: $$$$
I have stayed at Arakur more than any other hotel in Ushuaia. It’s by far the nicest hotel I have ever stayed at. Before and after long seasons in Antarctica, I need a place to relax and decompress. The heated hot tubs and heated infinity pool that look over the snowcapped mountains are perfect in every way. This hotel will cost around $300+/night with the blue rate…but would easily be $600 anywhere else in the world. This is how I justify my stays here. If you like luxury or want to splurge a little, this is the spot. The only disclaimer is that it’s about a 10-12 minute drive from outside the city center, but there is a free shuttle that runs regularly between the hotel and the city.

“I stayed at Laguna Esmeralda B&B. It’s a small, cozy, low-budget option which was perfect for me as I was there for nearly two weeks. I paid about $450 for the entire stay with the MEP (Visa) rate. I had full access to the kitchen and all the staff were so welcoming and warm-hearted.”

“Perfect small apartments for a longer Ushuaia stay. We stayed there for 4 days before our cruise and loved having access to a kitchen for snacks and lunches. Breakfast at the hotel was basic but top quality. Rooms are nicely maintained and the hotel is pretty quiet at one end of town. Easy to walk around from there.”
